Fear by any means is perceived to be a negative situation and as such there is always a reaction of avoiding or building barreiers to avoid a reoccurance of such.
When you learn to respond to fear, it makes you a success. For every time you experience fear, step back or step out of the situation and ask yourself what is it that you can do to turn that fear to something meaningful. Ask yourself, how can this fear turn my life around for good. Use fear as a spring board to greater heights.
Peep into the life of every successful person and you will see an element of fear that gave them the courage and reason to focus with consistency to be the success they have become.
Your situation cannot be different. Begin to make fear your spring board. Contineously wish to have fear moments to propel you to greater heights.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COLLEGE WARRI, OVERALL BEST MALE AND FEMALE CANDIDATES OF 2016 BESIC EDUCATION CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (BECE) EMERGE AS FIRST BENEFICIARY OF PESCUNNA 1990 FOUNDATION ANNUAL SCHOOLASHIP
PESCUNNA 1990 Foundation as duly registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (a.k.a. FGC Warri Class of 90) on Wednesday 14th December 2016 at the Assembly Hall, kicked off its Annual Scholarship Scheme in fulfilment of its earlier intent expressed to the School as per attached Letter.
Speaking during the maiden presentation of cash grants of N50,000 each to the Overall Best Male and Female candidates of the 2016 Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), formerly known as Junior School Certificate Examinations (JSCE), Emmanuel Utibe Ima-Abasi and Faith Erodje, the outgoing Secretary of the PESCUNNA 1990 Foundation, Paul Edemu, stated that the initiative was necessitated by the worrisome decline in the academic performance of students of the School in external examinations. He explained that PESCUNNA 1990 Foundation had already earmarked funds in a long term investment to guarantee annual payments according to the terms and conditions contained in its Letter of Intent to the School, subject to only upward reviews to allay fears over sustenance of the Scheme. He however pointed out that the inability of the pioneer beneficiaries to achieve distinctions in the core subjects of Mathematics, English Studies and Basic Studies was a clear indication of deeply fallen academic standards in the School and called on all relevant stakeholders of the School to rise up to the daunting challenge. He also emphasised for the avoidance of doubt that subsequent payments would be made strictly to only qualified candidates as contained in the Letter of Intent, highlighting that concessions were only granted to pioneer beneficiaries to ensure an eventual take-off of the Scheme according to timelines.
FEGOCOWOSA National Secretary Ayodele Oke while speaking on behalf of the National President Chyna Iwuanyanwu that had always championed the formation of purpose-driven class sets for increased positive interventions in the School, commended the pioneer Executive Team of PESCUNNA 1990 Foundation led by its outgoing Coordinator Hector Okposo for the timely initiative, which he described as a seed that would hopefully germinate, blossom, inspire excellence and possibly put the School on the path of restoration of its much desired and talked about past glory. He used the opportunity to call on other class sets, well-meaning old students and corporate organisations to emulate the noble gesture of PESCUNNA 1990 Foundation and institute different scholarship schemes, all in a bid to ensure that the School produces high flying alumni to sustain a legacy of excellence, cutting across various fields of human endeavour synonymous with the brand of the School. He recalled the Golden Era when students of the School had privileges of different scholarship schemes, instituted by different bodies that inspired them to excel in external examinations and expressed the willingness of FEGOCOWOSA to partner with any individual or group with laudable initiatives to redeem the image of the School.
The Vice Principal (Academics) Senior School, Mrs Edosio who represented the Principal Abiodun Fabiyi that was attending FEGOCO games at Enugu at the time of presentation, acknowledged the monumental contributions of old students over the years, especially in infrastructural developments and pledged the commitment of the School Management to do its utmost best in stemming the unfortunate drift in academic performance as witnessed by the 2016 BECE results, which she pointed out was not peculiar to the School alone, especially with the recent change in curriculum. She said the harsh economic reality of today was also affecting the performance of many students, whose parents were finding it increasingly difficult to meet up the financial demands of their schooling, thereby leading to the observable withdrawal of some brilliant but indigent students for re-enrolment in state public schools with lesser tuition costs. She welcomed wholeheartedly the re-introduction of Annual Scholarship Schemes as kick-started by Pescunna 1990 Foundation and pledged the resolve of the School to ensure its success.
Long live FGC Warri! Long live Pescunna 1990 Foundation!!

PAUL EDEMU

DETOX MADE SAFE AND SIMPLE
Why is detoxification important?
When our bodies become toxic it means that our natural method of ushering out metabolic waste from normal human metabolism, environmental pollution, and what has become known as the Standard American Diet (or SAD) has exceeded the threshold for what the body’s innate detoxification system can tolerate. With this toxic load, every system in the human body can become affected. From our head to our toes and everything in between, toxicity makes us sick!
How do you know if you are toxic and need to properly cleanse?
Usually a constellation of complaints help to determine whether or not you are toxic and to what extent you need to cleanse. Some examples of what might indicate a toxic system are:
How long should you stay on a cleanse?
Typical cleanses that harness our body’s natural processes for filtering and removing waste tend to be gentle and can therefore be tolerated for longer periods of time than more extreme protocols. A safe cleanse is one which doesn’t make you starve yourself or take fancy pills, potions, or expensive drinks.
Safety means allowing the body to do what it wants to do naturally, with a little assistance from some guided healthy eating, appropriate supplements, and relevant lifestyle modifications. I usually have my patients do a cleanse for 7 days to 6 weeks, or even longer, depending on their particular needs. Work with a trained medical provider to help determine what length of time is right for you.
How to prepare for a cleanse?
Like we would plan for any big trip to a new destination, we need to prepare, plan, and set out some main goals for our journey. And by the way, as in all travels, it’s always a good idea to leave some room for the serendipitous excursions to occur. When handled properly, they can be the best part of a trip! So how can we plan for a safe and simple detoxification protocol?
The following symptoms are very common at the beginning of the program and should dissipate within the first few days. Don’t worry, these symptoms are indicative that your body is eliminating toxins and are a good sign!
How to avoid withdrawal symptoms
Initially, those who consume the most caffeine, alcohol, and sugar, and those who have the most food allergies, will have the most difficulty. Symptoms usually disappear after three to four days. It is best to slowly reduce your intake of caffeine, alcohol, sugar, white flour, and over-the-counter medications (except as directed by your physician) a week or two before you start your program.

Usually a constellation of complaints help to determine whether or not you are toxic and to what extent you need to cleanse. Some examples of what might indicate a toxic system are:
- constipation
- persistent headaches, muscle aches, and muscle fatigue
- inclusion of large amounts of swordfish, tuna, shark, etc. into diet
- mercury fillings and dental amalgams
- food allergies
- stubborn weight loss
- hormonal imbalances and consistent use of hormone replacement such as “the pill” or progesterone cream
- consistent use of NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen
- skin abnormalities such as acne, rosacea, or eczema
- a lifetime of consuming the SAD diet

And by the way, as in all travels, it’s always a good idea to leave some room for the serendipitous excursions to occur. When handled properly, they can be the best part of a trip! So how can we plan for a safe and simple detoxification protocol?
- Take some basic measurements before you begin to track your progress as you go through your program. For example, if weight loss is your goal, measure your waist, hips, and record your weight. If, migraines are an issue, determine the duration, intensity and frequency. Keep a journal; this will help you in more ways than one!
- Make lists! Organize your pantry, toss out the junk, gather recipes, sketch out weekly menus, make shopping lists for healthy foods you will be eating and formulate a cooking schedule to ensure you allot time to prepare food for the week.
- Use journaling as a way to “cleanse” your inner world and relieve yourself of mental and emotional stress.
- Gather any supplements you need to take that have been advised for you by your medical provider.
- Think about the kind of exercise that will best complement your end goal and plan for it in your schedule.
- Detoxification requires you to slow down. Make sure you fit time for deep relaxation into your plan.
- Often, unsavory side effects appear in the initial phase of a cleanse. Two side effects to look for and keep track of in your journal are:
- Constipation. Move those bowels! Drink plenty of purified water. Try warm water with lemon first thing in the morning. Often, taking 300 mg of magnesium citrate is helpful or try an Epsom salt bath.
- Food allergies or sensitivities. These can be obvious or obscure. But chances are, as your body lets go of toxic waste, it will be easier to recognize a hidden reaction to gluten, dairy, soy or any of the other common food allergies.
The following symptoms are very common at the beginning of the program and should dissipate within the first few days. Don’t worry, these symptoms are indicative that your body is eliminating toxins and are a good sign!
- bad breath
- constipation
- achy, flu-like feeling
- fatigue
- headache
- hunger
- irritability
- itchy skin
- nausea
- offensive body odor
- sleep difficulties (too much or too little)

It is best to slowly reduce your intake of caffeine, alcohol, sugar, white flour, and over-the-counter medications (except as directed by your physician) a week or two before you start your program.
- Drink at least six to eight glasses of filtered water daily. Stay away from plastic bottles; glass bottles are okay.
- To prevent headaches, make sure your bowels are clean.
- Fatigue is normal during a cleanse so allow more time for rest and sleep. To boost energy, exercise for 30 minutes a day. Walking outside in fresh air is best. Roll up those sleeves and let the sun hit you with some vitamin D!
- Take 1,000 mg buffered vitamin C with breakfast and dinner. Take 300 mg magnesium citrate at dinner.
- Don’t wait until you are starving to eat! Balance your blood sugar by eating protein-based meals and snacks every three to four hours. Excellent sources of protein are baked or broiled fish, lean poultry, and legumes such as edamame or black beans.
- Heat is a great resource while cleansing as it helps draw out toxins from within. Try a sauna or a warm bath with Epsom salts for 20 minutes a few times per week.
- While safe, these types of cleanses can still be stressful on the body and mind so remember to relax. Actively engaging your parasympathetic nervous system helps restore your energy which your body needs to replenish itself. Meditation, deep breathing, or any calming activity is good.
- Eliminate all refined sugars, flours, caffeine, alcohol, dairy, gluten, or addictive substances. By allowing certain triggers to stay in the diet the body stays on the vicious cycle of cravings and addictive behavior. Reset your biology to eliminate all triggers.
- Keep a journal and track your symptoms. You should feel better in three to seven days. If you do not feel well at this point, please exercise caution and check in with your doctor.
- Tune in to your body and listen to the cues it provides. A cleanse is a great journey to learn more about understanding how to operate your very own owner’s manual!

DO YOU NEED SUPPLEMENTS?
“Can I get all the nutrients I need from food?” a patient will
occasionally ask. On the surface, this makes sense. After all, if you
are eating a whole, fresh, unprocessed foods diet, shouldn’t you be able
to get an abundant supply of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and
other nutrients?
Unfortunately, things aren’t that easy. Even with a perfect diet, the combination of many things –including our depleted soils, the storage and transportation of our food, genetic alterations of traditional heirloom species, and the increased stress and nutritional demands resulting from a toxic environment – make it impossible for us to get the vitamins and minerals we need solely from the foods we eat.
Simply put, the evidence shows we cannot get away from the need for nutritional supplements.
Doctors used to think you got all your vitamins and minerals from food. Any extra nutrients were excreted, or worse, became toxic. But the tide is shifting. Doctors now prescribe over one billion dollars in fish oil supplements. Most cardiologists recommend folate, fish oil, and coenzyme Q10. Gastroenterologists recommend probiotics. Obstetricians have always recommended prenatal vitamins.
Emerging scientific evidence shows the importance of nutrients as essential helpers in our biochemistry and metabolism. They are the oil that greases the wheels of our metabolism. And large-scale deficiencies of nutrients in our population – including omega-3 fats, vitamin D, folate, zinc, magnesium, and iron – have been well documented in extensive government-sponsored research.

5 Ways to Detox Smartly
So now that you know why you need a detox, how do you do it without
pain and suffering? How do you take a shortcut to feeling great?
Here’s a little secret that the diet and food industry, the medical establishment, and Big Pharma don’t want you to know: Most of us are only a few days away from health and happiness. Even if you have a really bad case of FLC Syndrome or even a chronic disease, food is the most powerful medicine on the planet to fix it. Here are 5 ways to do this:
Here’s a little secret that the diet and food industry, the medical establishment, and Big Pharma don’t want you to know: Most of us are only a few days away from health and happiness. Even if you have a really bad case of FLC Syndrome or even a chronic disease, food is the most powerful medicine on the planet to fix it. Here are 5 ways to do this:
- Be a turkey (a cold one) and take a drug holiday. There is no way to handle a true physiological addiction except to stop it completely. Addicts can’t have just one line of cocaine or just one drink. Go cold turkey. But you won’t have to white-knuckle it because when you detox correctly, you will automatically reset your body’s neurotransmitters and hormones. Stop all forms of sugar, all flour products, and all artificial sweeteners. They all cause increased cravings and slow metabolism, and lead to fat storage. This especially includes liquid sugar calories, which make you eat more all day and drive storage of belly fat. Also get rid of anything with trans or hydrogenated fats and MSG (watch for hidden names). Ideally, for 10 days you avoid any foods that come in a box, package or can or have a label, and stick to real, whole, fresh food. And the best way to really detox is to give up all grains for 10 days. Give up all drugs, too. Caffeine and alcohol are the two biggest after sugar.
- Power up the day with protein. Protein, protein, protein at every meal, especially breakfast, is the key to balancing blood sugar and insulin, cutting cravings, and providing your liver the raw materials to optimally detoxify. Start the day with farm fresh eggs or a protein shake. I recommend my Whole Food Protein Shake. Include nuts, seeds, eggs, fish, chicken or grass-fed meat for protein at every meal. A serving size is 4 to 6 ounces or about the size of your palm.
- Eat unlimited carbs (the right ones). Yes, that’s right. Unlimited carbs. Did you know that vegetables are carbs? And you get to eat as much as you want. Unlimited refills! There is one catch. I only mean the non-starchy veggies such as greens, the broccoli family (including cauliflower, kale, and collards), asparagus, green beans, mushrooms, onions, zucchini, tomatoes, fennel, eggplant, artichokes, and peppers. Sulfur-rich cruciferous veggies, as well as onions and garlic provide additional detox power.
- Fight sugar with fat. Fat is not a four-letter word. Fat doesn’t make you fat, sugar does. Fat makes you full, balances your blood sugar, and is necessary for fueling your cells. Along with protein, have good fats at every meal and snack including nuts and seeds, extra virgin olive oil, coconut butter, avocados, and omega-3 fats from fish.
- Use friend power, not willpower. Extraordinary new research shows that obesity is contagious. You are more likely to be overweight if your friends are overweight than if your parents or siblings are overweight. But health is contagious too. In a large social experiment I did with my friend Rick Warren at Saddleback Church we got 15,000 people to lose 250,000 pounds in a year by doing the program together. They met in small groups, helped, loved, and supported each other. And those who did it together lost twice as much weight and got twice as healthy. I call it the Love Diet! Every “body” needs a “buddy.” Find a friend or form a small group and do the detox together.
7 REASONS YOU NEED TO DETOX - DR MARK HYMAN
Millions of us, over half the population, suffer from FLC Syndrome.
That’s when you Feel Like Crap. Sometimes it’s annoying little symptoms
such as achy joints or muscles, brain fog, fatigue, headaches, allergies
or gas, or more serious problems such as autoimmune diseases,
migraines, asthma, acne, irritable bowel, reflux, arthritis or worse.
A detox could be your solution to these and other problems. Now, I know that the word “detox” has bad connotations. You might imagine drinking some weird concoction, being constantly hungry, having to run to the bathroom all the time, or otherwise suffering and depriving yourself.
When I use the word “detox,” I mean a scientifically designed medical detox from sugar, and all things that turn to sugar. The fun part is that it’s done simply by taking out the bad stuff and putting in the good stuff – lots of good stuff. Maybe I should call it The Feel Good with Good Stuff plan!
An intelligently designed detox helps you get rid of more than just unwanted pounds. This is your chance to heal your body on every level.
Yes, you will drop pounds, but you will also find that your energy, sleep, and mood improve, that chronic problems including joint pain, digestive problems, autoimmune disease, headaches, memory problems and brain fog, sinus and allergy issues, even acne, eczema, and psoriasis will get better or disappear entirely. Your sexual desire and function may even improve.
I can think of a thousand benefits of detoxification, but let’s take a look at these 7:

Your sexual desire and function may even improve.
I can think of a thousand benefits of detoxification, but let’s take a look at these 7:
- You feel better. When you detox, you wake up feeling vital, vibrant, alive, joyful, and full of energy. Even if you are thin but have symptoms of being toxic like fatigue, brain fog, achiness, digestive issues, allergies, and headaches, the detox can help heal you quickly. Most of us don’t connect what we’re eating to how we feel. In the 10-day “feel good with good stuff” plan—the program in my book, The Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox Diet—you will learn how you have put up with needless suffering. Feeling good is only a few days away.
- You lose weight. The scientific establishment has convinced us that losing weight is just a matter of calories in/calories out, energy balance, and eating less and exercising more. How’s that working out for you? Probably not so well! Problem is, the scientific establishment is different from the established science. The science says that sugar and flour calories are WAY different. First, they trigger addiction and overeating. Second, they spike insulin and inflammation, which makes you store belly fat and blocks your ability to feel full. The verdict is in: Sugar calories are worse than whole food calories. Sugar spikes insulin and triggers inflammation, a double whammy guaranteed to mess up any attempt at long-term weight loss. When you detoxify, you eliminate nasty toxins (including sugar!) that hold your weight hostage.
- You nix cravings. Sugar and flour are biologically addictive. The science behind it is clear and conclusive. Yet we blame the fat person for being a lazy glutton, which leads to shame and guilt. I am here to tell you it’s not your fault. Your biology has been hijacked by the food industry. They have done a hostile takeover of your taste buds, brain chemistry, hormones, and metabolism. More than 300 food industry insiders spilled the beans to Michael Moss in his book, Salt, Sugar and Fat, explaining they hire “craving experts” to create the “bliss point” of junk food to create “heavy users” and increase their “stomach share.” Sugar is the new nicotine. In fact, sugar is eight times more addictive than cocaine. If you are trying to use willpower to lose weight, you will fail. A detox allows you to unhook yourself from the addictive power of sugar, flour, and hyper-processed, hyper-palatable food-like substances.
- You eliminate food sensitivities. An intelligently designed detox will also eliminate foods that your body might be reacting to, causing inflammation and many other symptoms. The two most common and harmful food sensitivities are gluten and dairy. Many people do not realize that they have hidden food sensitivities. These are not true allergies, like a peanut or shellfish allergy that makes your tongue swell, closes off your throat, creates hives, and can kill you in minutes. These are more subtle reactions to everyday foods. On The Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox Diet you remove gluten, dairy, and other reactive foods that make you sick, tired, fat, and inflamed.
- You get a reboot!. All of us stray from living in a way that supports our health: too little sleep, too little exercise, too much bad food, too much stress, not enough time for ourselves. The best way to reset your life is with a detox. Simple, delicious foods. No toxins or drugs, by which I mean sugar, flour, processed foods, caffeine or alcohol. Self-nurturing practices: deep breathing, sleeping 7 to 8 hours a night, a little exercise, and self-love. All this works to get your body and mind back to their original factory settings—and quickly!
- You have better sex. Sex hormones, toxicity, and a healthy insulin balance are more intimately linked than you might think. We’ve been conditioned to believe that low sex drive and other symptoms become normal as we age. They don’t. Libido-crashing mood disorders in women and men reaching for a “little blue pill” do not need to be a part of the aging process. Bad habits such as drinking and smoking, exposure to environmental toxins, and being chronically stressed all diminish sex hormone balance. When you detox, you eliminate toxins – including sugar – that create hormonal imbalances and wreak havoc on your metabolism. Once you understand how insulin can impact other hormones (including your sex hormones), you begin to connect the dots about how toxic food and a toxic environment can wreck your sex life.
- You get to the roots of your motivation and choices. When you detox, you get to examine your thoughts and beliefs, and the ways in which you live that don’t support the greatest expression of who you are. A detox will quickly help you feel better and show you how health, energy, weight loss, and, yes, even happiness are available to you when you use food as medicine and make a few simple changes in your daily routine. Once you have experienced what it feels like to feel good, to get rid of brain fog, cravings, joint pain, fatigue, excess weight, and a myriad of other chronic health problems, then you know there is a path forward.

LIMITLESS POSSIBILITIES
In his higher nature man is limitless, in the realm of mind, of character and of spirit there are no limitations save those which we impose upon ourselves.
the most important knowledge is the knowledge of oneself, and yet if seems as if this is the branch of knowledge in which we are most deficient. We must know ourselves if we are to grow along the lines of power.
Success is in the student, not the university; greatness is in the individual not in the library; power is in the man not in his crutches. A great man will make great opportunities even out of the commonest situations.
