Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius
Anyim, said in a statement that the committee, whose work would largely
be fact finding, would liaise with the Borno State government and
establish the circumstances leading to the school remaining open for
boarding students when other schools were closed.
The committee will be inaugurated on Tuesday, will also liaise with relevant authorities and the parents of the missing students to establish the actual number and identities of girls abducted; interface with the security services and Borno state to ascertain how many of the girls have returned; mobilise the surrounding communities and the general public to support the rescue strategy and operation among other terms of reference.
Members of the committee include Brig. Gen. Ibrahim A. Sabo (rtd.), as the chairman, with the permanent secretary (Special Services Office) in the office of the SGF, as secretary.
